Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting 11-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined 51 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series averaged 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise over last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
